Carol Knowles

Biography

EDUCATION:
Bachelors in Music Education, University of Wyoming, 1983
Masters in Music Education with an emphasis in Suzuki Pedagogy from Western Illinois University, 1991

HOW LONG HAVE YOU PLAYED WITH BHSO:
Since 1983

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR INSTRUMENT:
The elementary school I attended had a quota for which instruments you could start. I had a choice between clarinet and violin. I thought the clarinet was too much like those old school recorders that after playing you stuck in a cleaning bucket for the next class to use. Gross!!! So, I started the violin and the rest is history.

HOBBIES/LEISURE ACTIVITIES:
I love to travel, hike in the outdoors, cook, watch movies with my family, and make all kinds of beaded jewelry.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Besides the violin, I also like to play piano and viola. I teach private lessons and I am also a member of the Black Hills Suzuki School and the Black Hills String Quartet. I am married to Bruce Knowles and we have two boys that also play stringed instruments.
