Symphony Conductor

Qualified persons interested in continuing the tradition of excellence as the next Conductor of Black Hills Symphony Orchestra should submit a current resume, including three references, and a letter of interest either by e-mail to BHSO@rapidnet.com, or by first class mail to PO Box 2246, Rapid City, SD 57709. To ensure full consideration, applications should be submitted by December 1, 2008, 12:00 pm (Noon) MDT. The position will be filled when a suitable applicant has been selected.

Qualified applicants must have earned a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Music and, ideally, will have earned a Masters degree in a music-related discipline; possess a thorough knowledge of orchestra literature, music theory, orchestration, orchestral instruments, and conducting technique; have prior conducting experience with a full symphony orchestra; and reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Black Hills region. The Conductor is employed under the terms of an annual contract, which is subject to review by the Board of Directors at the conclusion of each concert season.
